(EL)JAUNTS


is a queer ethnographic artist exploring co-operative filmmaking methods and community-led healthcare archiving.



They are the co-director of XYZ Projects, a trans and disabled-led healthcare arts collective based between Birmingham and East London. Jaunts has an MA in Visual Anthropology, during which they wrote Queering the Healthcare Information Film, an essay an exploring the application of community-made NHS staff training resources as an approach to decolonising the production of medical knowlege. Alongside this research, they produced Dr. XYZ, a satirical public information film on trans healthcare which has been developed into an online teaching (Moodle) resource by Dr. Ravi Piccus and is circulating in several NHS Staff training networks. Dr. XYZ was also added to the BFI’s ‘NHS On Film’ archive and has shown at Flatpack, The Royal Anthropology Institute, Frameline, SQIFF and TITE film festivals. As well as Edinburgh Arts Festival and as part of XYZ’s exhibition at Vivid Projects in 2024.





Jaunts also works part-time as a film workshop facilitator with Queer Life: Moving, a project initiated by Prof. Michelle Aaron (Warwick University) that collaborates with LGBTQIA+ people with lived experience of end-of-life care to co-produce a series of films.



XYZ’s current research project, Elders, 2085, combines live performance and an architectural model installation to imagine alternative visions of the care home in collaboration with Tonic Housing and OPAL (Out Proud African LGBTQ+) community members . Elders, 2085 was commissioned through a Wellcome Trust x Unlimited Partner Award and will be further developed during the Gasworks Participation Artist Residency (2025–2026).
