JAUNTS
is an ethnographic artist exploring co-operative filmmaking and performance methods to produce community-led healthcare information artworks

they are the co-director of XYZ Projects, a trans and disabled-led healthcare arts collective based between Birmingham and East London and currently work as ‘Elders, 2046: For Living and Dying Otherwise’ is a speculative soap performance and care home diarama commissioned by the Wellcome Trust as part of their ‘Coming of Age’ program in 2026. This work was researched as part of a workshop series ‘For Living and Dying Otherwise’ at Gasworks, exploring alternative tales of ageing, transition and becoming with an intergenerational TLGBQIA+ group in Southwark and Lambeth.
For their MA in Visual Anthropology they wrote Queering the Healthcare Information Film, an essay an exploring the application of community-made NHS staff training resources as an approach to decolonising the production of medical knowlege. Alongside this research, they produced Dr. XYZ, a satirical public information film on trans healthcare which has been developed into an online teaching (Moodle) resource by Dr. Ravi Piccus and is circulating in several NHS Staff training networks. It has also been developed into a Trans Healthcare teaching session at Birmingham Womens and Children’s Hospital and Homerton Hospital.
Dr. XYZ was also added to the BFI’s ‘NHS On Film’ archive and has shown at Frameline (San Fransisco), The Royal Anthropology Institute (Bristol), Edinburgh Art Festival, Flatpack (Birmingham), SQIFF (Glasgow) and TITE film (Glasgow). It premiered at Vivid Projects in Birmingham where XYZ were working as Lab Artist in Residency in 2024.
Jaunts has also collaborated with other artists and scholars on projects such as:
‘Dorothy Towers’ (2022); Archive Researcher/Filmmaker
a 16mm film, innitiated by artist and author Sean Burns, exploring Birmingham’s legacy of HIV/AIDs through the lives of a group of residents occupying two famous tower blocks in the city centre known as Dorothy Towers.
Queer Life: Moving (2025); Workshop Facilitator/ Filmmaker
a project initiated by Prof. Michelle Aaron (Warwick University) that collaborates with LGBTQIA+ people with lived experience of End-Of-Life care to co-produce a series of films.
The Blk Art Group Research Project (2025); Film Editor
a project lead by Ian Sergeant, a researcher and curator at
Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery.
