‘Elders, 2046: For Living and Dying Otherwise’ invites members of the TLGBQIA+ community to reflect on our hopes, dreams and fears of ageing in the UK. If we live long enough, disability is the one identity we will all inhabit. So, what could alternative systems of life-long care look like for us?

Elders, 2046 is an access world-building project in the form of a speculative soap-opera and miniature model of ‘The Other Care Home’ designed by an an intergenerational TLGBQIA+ group.

It imagines alternative visions of
the care home, drawing on TLGBQIA+ experiences of ageing and disability.

During the Gasworks’ 2025-2026 Participation Residency XYZ are facilitating a guided world-building game called 'For Living and Dying Otherwise' to co-designThe Other Care Home’s architecture and systems of care.

It was commissioned byThe Wellcome Trust and will show in October 2026 as part of their ‘Coming Of Age‛ program.
